Ice Cream Sundae Series

In 1789 the German Romantic, Novalis reflected: "Everything at a distance turns into poetry, distant mountains, distant people, distant events: All become Romantic" This series was conceived as a souvenir of past experiences and feelings. They are conceived of as a series much like a story board narrative capturing successive moods and expressions. Captured is an emotion dialogue between two people. Implicit is a quiet and child-like playfulness. Innocence and deviousness commingle in the delicate sensuality of eating ice cream. The distance between the events and their depicted reconstruction clarifies events, as much as it distorts and aggrandizes them. It opens up a psychological space in which recollection can become something poetic, something more than the literal facts of the past.
