Ice Cream Sundae Series

In 1789 the German Romantic, Novalis reflected: "Everything at a distance turns into poetry, distant mountains, distant people, distant events: All become Romantic" This series of images was conceived of as a souvenir of past experiences and feelings. They capture shifts of an ongoing emotion dialogue. Implicit is a quiet and child-like playfulness captured in the delicate sensuality of eating ice cream. Innocence and deviousness commingle. They works are conceived of as a series much like a story board narrative capturing successive moods and expressions. That distance between the events depicted and their reconstruction distorts and aggrandizes, as much as it clarifies. It opens up a psychological space in which recollection of personal history can become more than the literal facts of the past.
